ETI is one of the few organizations that is respected by vehicle manufacturers, tool and equipment providers, and the aftermarket alike. Our community brings together the companies and individuals who shape the technology, tools and skills needed in today’s workshops. As a Training Member, you gain access to this network from the perspective of education and professional development.

ETI maintains several email lists that keep you informed of industry activities, meetings, issues and important documents. This helps trainers stay aligned with the latest technology trends, service requirements and future skill needs across the industry.

ETI also provides Training Members with an opportunity to meet and learn from the organisations who design, manufacture and support the tools, equipment and systems used in the workshop. While Training Members do not promote products, they benefit from direct dialogue with the companies and OEMs who influence what must be taught. This access enables trainers to strengthen their curriculum, stay up to date and better prepare technicians for the changing automotive landscape.

Q: What is the difference between an Associate Member and a Training Member?

A: Associate Membership focuses on the marketing and business-development side of ETI. Associate Members attend ToolTech to network, promote their products or services, and connect with OEMs, national accounts and purchasing groups.
Training Membership, by contrast, is specifically designed for automotive trainers, instructors and education professionals. Training Members also attend ToolTech, but not for marketing or product promotion. Instead, they participate in the Trainers Vertical Group, engage with OEMs and tool manufacturers from a training and curriculum perspective, and stay aligned with future industry skills needs.

In short:

  • Associate Members join ETI to promote products or services and build business relationships.

  • Training Members join ETI to engage in the training community, collaborate with OEMs and tool makers, and strengthen educational content and delivery.

Q: What ETI events can be attended by a Training Member?

A: Training Members may attend ToolTech, ETI’s flagship annual event.
ToolTech provides unparalleled opportunities to meet OEMs, tool and equipment manufacturers, national accounts and industry leaders, all of whom directly influence the skills and technologies trainers must teach.

In addition, Training Members may participate in the Trainers Vertical Group sessions held at ToolTech or at other ETI-supported training-focused activities.
These sessions are specifically created to support trainers, exchange best practices, and foster direct dialogue with technical stakeholders.

(Training Members do not participate in the technical committees or data-access programmes reserved for Full Members.)

Q: How is ETI Organized?

A: ETI is a non-profit organisation managed by a small team of professional staff. Final decisions are made by an elected Board of Directors.

Training Members, like Associate Members, do not hold voting rights and do not serve as Directors. However, they are fully included in ETI’s community activities, ToolTech access, communications and the Trainers Vertical Group.

Q: What are ETI member responsibilities?

A: Training Members may participate as actively or as lightly as they choose. The more engaged the trainer or training organisation is in ETI’s activities, particularly the Trainers Vertical Group and ToolTech, the more value they will receive.

We encourage Training Members to bring forward training-related challenges or industry issues they encounter. If a training problem exists for one organisation, it often exists for many, and ETI provides a collaborative forum to raise and explore those topics.

As always, we understand that your day-to-day role takes priority, and participation is flexible around your professional commitments.

Q: Membership list?

A: A list of all our members can be found by clicking here.

Training Members will be included alongside other ETI member categories, allowing the wider industry to identify and connect with organisations and individuals committed to advancing automotive training.
