Updated 7/9/2010

Step-by-Step Instructions for securing a Chrysler Data License

Down load the License agreement and read it carefully.  Click here if you don’t already have a copy.

Make sure you seek legal guidance from your company’s legal department.  This agreement was carefully negotiated with full member participation, but if there is disagreeable language, your legal department should take it up directly with Chrysler’s legal team.  They can be contacted through the following address, phone and email information:

Chief Patent Counsel

Chrysler Technology Center

Corporate Patent Office, CIMS 483-02-19

800 Chrysler Drive East

Auburn Hills, MI  48326-2757

Roland (Ron) A. Fuller III
Harness, Dickey & Pierce P.L.C.
(248) 641-1296
(248) 944-6518 (No. at Chrysler, Tues. & Thurs)

Once the agreement is agreeable, make two copies and have someone with proper authority sign both.  These will become the originals.

Provide proof of insurance as required in section 7) c. of the agreement.  For convenience this section is reprinted below:

“Licensee will obtain at its own expense, and maintain at all times, worker’s compensation including employer’s liability with minimum limits of $500,000 and comprehensive general liability (including but not limited to contractual liability and products and completed operations liability) subject to minimum limits of $2,000,000 with insurers that maintain an A.M. Best Rating of A-:VII.  Coverages required shall 1) name Chrysler as an additional insured on general liability and products liability (if separate), 2)  shall include a waiver of subrogation or no right of recovery against Chrysler by Licensee or its insurers, 3) shall be supplied with a copy of the certificate of insurance prior to performance of this Agreement  Such policies will contain endorsements stating that the policies are primary and not excess over or contributory with any other valid, applicable, and collectible insurance in force for Chrysler.  Licensee shall be financially responsible for any deductibles, retentions and/or premiums.  Limits shall not be considered as limitations or maximums as respects to Licensee’s indemnification obligations.”

Include payment – Payment must be in the form of a company check.  It must be in U.S. Dollars.  The amount depends on the size of your company and is based on the same size rules ETI uses for dues.  Please use the following chart when determining dues.

Annual Sales of Automotive Equipment and Tools in North America

Annual License Fee

Under $10,000,000

$  5,500

$10,000,000 to $49,999,999

$50,000,000 and over

$15,500

Important Note:

If you are a new member of ETI this year, or you were a member in 2009 and licensed scan tool data from Chrysler, the above rates apply.  If you were a member in 2009 and did not license Chrysler Data, you must pay a two year license fee, or double what is in the table above.

Send everything in - Two signed copies of the contract, proof of insurance and payment should all be put into an envelope and sent to the following ETI address:

Equipment and tool Institute

305 N. Jefferson St.

Harvard, IL  60033

If you are renewing your Chrysler Scan Tool Data License, you need not fill out a new contract.  Your Check and proof of insurance is all that is needed.

ETI will then deposit the check in a special Chrysler account.  (None of this money goes to ETI.  We are merely a facilitator acting on behalf of our members.  This actually keeps costs down).  We then forward the rest of the paperwork to Chrysler for further processing along with our endorsement that you are a member in good standing.

Chrysler will then send one copy of the contract back to ETI with their signature.  This will trigger the following actions:

  • ETI will forward your copy of the original contract back to you
  • We will activate your logins on the TEK-NET Library so that you will have access to the data
  • We will send you a DVD containing the data via 2 day priority mail

That will complete the process.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at the phone or email below.
