Winter Tech Week 2009 Receives High Praise From OEM's and ETI Members

Rochester, MI – More than 40 ETI Members representing 24 companies attended this year’s Annual Winter Tech Week which was held December 8-10, 2009 in Redondo Beach, California.  For the past twenty years, the Equipment and Tool Institute and the major Japanese automakers, represented by JAMA, have presented Winter Tech Week as a forum to communicate new information and tool requirements for servicing new and future vehicles.  This year marked the inclusion of Korean automaker, KIA.  ETI was pleased to have presentations from Kia on New Model Year data.

More than 40 individuals from Honda, Isuzu, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota were in attendance and delivered presentations on service and repair of new model launches and new technology.

“The warmth and appreciation shown by ETI members, more than made up for the unseasonably cold, Southern California weather.  It was a pleasure to participate in the 2-way information exchange ETI members provide”, commented James K. Von Ehr

of Nissan North America, Inc.

Winter Tech Week proved to be an outstanding event and many ETI Members commented on the amount and the detail of the information received this year.  The OE’s were impressed by the knowledge and enthusiasm of the ETI Members.

"Once again ETI staff worked with Japanese and Korean OEM representatives to create an info-loaded agenda with relevant new-vehicle technical topics and service solution overviews.  Discussions were plenty, and to share one observation, it is clear that both ETI and OEM personnel can and must work together to continue solving today's automotive service and diagnostic problems.  Second to none with Winter Tech Week, ETI creates a unique, open forum for getting Industry stakeholders together to share information and learn stuff.  Such an opportunity that should never be missed!” stated Bernie Carr of Robert Bosch.

“Once again, Winter Tech Week was a success, and the information gained during the week was invaluable, the networking was outstanding, and a good time was had by all”, said ETI Marketing Manager Jessie Korosec.

Winter Tech Week is a closed meeting for ETI members only.  For Membership details contact Jessie Korosec, Marketing Manager, Equipment and Tool Institute, 134 W. University Drive, Suite 205, Rochester, Michigan.  Phone: 248-656-5080; Fax: 603-971-2375; e-mail: jessiek@etools.org.
